Av. Ivanova et Bn. Provotorov, On the contribution of dipole-dipole interactions to intracavity dipole density motions, CHEM PHYS R, 18(7), 2000, pp. 1393-1400
Intracavity dipole motions are considered for the first time in the laser t
heory with consistent regard for dipole-dipole interactions. These interact
ions are shown to result not only in the well-known dipole dephasing but, a
dditionally, give rise to cooperative coherent dipole oscillations with a c
haracteristic frequency omega(osc) equal to the geometric average of the re
sonant atomic frequency and average local dipole field frequency. It is als
o demonstrated that it is these cooperative oscillations that are responsib
le for the frequency shift (with respect to the resonance frequency) of the
laser radiation by a value inherent in dipole oscillations.
