This article describes a youth-centered program that offers an opportunity
for HIV affected youth to overcome their resistance to treatment and become
engaged in clinical experiences by focusing on their strengths and interes
ts, and helping them to develop friendships and trust within the agency. Th
rough active outreach, community involvement, and special projects the auth
or uses case material to demonstrate the ways in which the adolescent's sen
se of isolation is gradually decreased, and individual treatment is made po
ssible.
