Synthesis and biological activity of 3-pyridyl-4-[N-substituted phenyl carboxamido]-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles

Isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INH) when condensed with carbon disulphide in ethanolic potassium hydroxide yielded potassium dithiocarbazinate (2). On h eating 2 and acid hydrazides the title compounds (3a-l) were obtained in go od yields. The antibacterial, antifungal and antitubercular activity of the compounds have also been evaluated. The structures of the new compounds we re established on the basis of analytical and spectral data.
