Sw. Baek et al., The combined Monte-Carlo and finite-volume method for radiation in a two-dimensional irregular geometry, INT J HEAT, 43(13), 2000, pp. 2337-2344
This article proposes a combined procedure of the Monte-Carlo and finite-vo
lume method (CMCFVM) for solving radiative heat transfer in absorbing, emit
ting, and isotropically scattering medium with an isolated boundary heat so
urce. The conventional flux methods such as the finite volume and the discr
ete ordinate methods are known to be afflicted by the ray effects due to it
s own angular discretization. Thereby, a wiggling behavior in the solution
used to take place. In order to tackle this problem. which is especially pr
onounced in a medium with an isolated heat source, the CMCFVM is suggested
here and successfully applied to a two-dimensional irregular enclosure. (C)
