Abstract
A relevant automated electromagnetic (EM) optimization method is presented. This optimization method combines a rigorous and accurate global EM analys is of the device performed with a finite element method (FEM) and a fast an alytical model deducted from its segmented EM analysis applying a neural ne twork approximation. First we present our optimization tools, then we descr ibe our full EM optimization method with the definition of the analytical m odel. Afterward, we apply it to optimize three volumetric dielectric resona tor (DR) filters, considering the novel topology of the dual-mode filter. T he accuracy of this automated method is demonstrated considering the good a greement between theoretical optimization results and experimental ones. Co pyright (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
