Abstract
In this paper, after a brief outline of the Robin boundary condition iterat ion (RBCI) method for the finite element solution of two-dimensional electr omagnetic scattering problems in open boundaries, a fast post-processing pr ocedure is described for the computation of the bistatic radar cross-sectio n based on the development of the scattered field in series of cylindrical harmonics. Moreover by utilizing the same series a scalar indicator is deri ved for estimating the accuracy of the numerical solution. Application exam ples are also provided.
