S. Pasynkiewicz et al., THE CLEAVAGE OF TETRAHYDROFURAN BY CYCLOPENTADIENYLPHENYLNICKEL SPECIES, Journal of organometallic chemistry, 531(1-2), 1997, pp. 121-124
Tetrahydrofuran is cleaved at room temperature by low valent nickel sp
ecies {(NiCp)(2)} yielding cyclopentadienylnickel clusters: (NiCp)(3)C
CH3, (NiCp)(3)CCH2Ph, (NiCp)(4)H-2 and (NiCp)(2)(mu-C5H6). Unstable {(
NiCp)(2)} species is formed in the reaction of nickelocene with phenyl
lithium in THF as solvent. The evidence for the cleavage of THF was ob
tained by studying the reactions using deuterated reagents and solvent
