The role of electron correlations in organic conductors

This is a parochial talk, based on my memory of events over a number of yea rs. Thus I still remember the rather excited tone of Denis Jerome, telling me on the telephone twenty years ago that he had at last observed supercond uctivity in his organic compound. This was only at 1 K and under pressure; but the field soon developed into a new country which Orsay helped to conqu er. This is what we are celebrating today.
