Abstract
The enthalpy of formation has been determined for the Al-Fe-Si solid soluti on phases tau(6), tau(2), tau(3), tau(8), tau(4) with a Tian-Calvet calorim eter (Setaram), by dissolution in an aluminium bath at 800 degrees C (1073 K). The single-phase alloys were prepared by levitation melting followed by annealing. All alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction and their pre cise composition was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
