Abstract
This paper presents a new algorithm for extracting IF-THEN rules from examples. The algorithm employs an efficient rule searching method and a simple metric for assessing rule generality and accuracy. The paper illustrates step by step the operation of the algorithm and discusses its performance on the IRIS data classification problem. (C) 1997 Pat tern Recognition Society.
