M. Jamialahmadi et al., A UNIFIED CORRELATION FOR THE PREDICTION OF HEAT-TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS IN LIQUID SOLID FLUIDIZED-BED SYSTEMS/, Journal of heat transfer, 118(4), 1996, pp. 952-959
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the developme
nt of solid-liquid fluidized bed heat exchangers for efficient utiliza
tion of energy and for the control of heat transfer surface fouling. H
owever, the design for optimum heat transfer remains uncertain and ess
entially empirical. In this study, a data bank containing a large numb
er of measured heat transfer coefficients over a wide range of operati
onal parameters (solid and liquid phase physical properties and heat t
ransfer surface configurations) are compared with the prediction of al
most all available correlations in the literature. A unified model for
the prediction of heat transfer coefficients for Mall-to-bed and imme
rsed heater-to-bed systems is presented which predicts the published e
xperimental data with good accuracy.
