Financing new drug development in ophthalmology

Previously, the author presented an overview of the procedural aspects of o phthalmic drug development.(1) In that article, aspects of drug discovery a nd development were discussed, including application of the scientific meth od, compound selection, biological evaluation, pharmaceutical formulation, clinical development, and regulatory approval. An important part of drug di scovery and development is funding the work. In this article, the author pr esents key issues involved in this funding process.
