Abstract
Photoacoustic intracavity cell designs and characteristics, and the re lative merits of resonant versus nonresonant cells are discussed. Sign al enhancement with a novel cell design which halves the chopping freq uency required to achieve longitudinal resonance has been examined. Re sults are presented that illustrate the dependence of the photoacousti c signal on cell pressure in the range of 50 to 700 Torr: In contrast to non-resonant cells, linear dependence of signal on pressure was obs erved with the resonant cell.
