Abstract
Electrons above about 50 eV can ionize Mg+ by the ejection of a 2p electron . New R-matrix calculations are reported on these L-shell processes in the electron-impact ionization cross section of Mg+. Our background cross secti on agrees well with previous calculations and with the structure obtained i n recent measurements. Resonances arising from interference of inner-shell and outer-shell channels are quantified, and we discuss in detail the 2p(5) 3s(2)nl series.
