This paper deals with the electronic structure of ruthenium. Synchrotron ra
diation in the range from 15 to 45 eV and angle-resolved ultraviolet photoe
mission are used to map the energies of the electronic states. The Fermi su
rface of Ru is determined using angle-resolved ultraviolet photoemission sp
ectroscopy. The experimental results an compared with calculated photoemiss
ion spectra obtained within the framework of the one-step model of photoemi
ssion.
