Moroccan isolates of Pyricularia grisea (Magnaporthe grisea) from Orzya sat
iva and Stenotaphrum secundatum were crossed with standard fertile isolates
(mating type Mat 1.1 and Mat 1.2) by using the three-points culture method
on oatmeal agar. Only Mat 1.1 isolates from rice were identified and consi
dered to have only the ability to function as males, whereas no isolate fro
m S. secundatum mated with Mat 1.1 or Mat 1.2. Cross-inoculation studies us
ing Pyricularia grisea (M. grisea) isolates from Oryza sativa and S. secund
atum show that rice varieties cultivated in Morocco were susceptible to iso
lates originating from S. secundatum. Similarly, S. secundatum was suscepti
ble to some isolates from O. sativa.
