Abstract
The physical understanding of ground/structure vibrational interaction is e ssential in order to relate ground vibration levels outside buildings to st ructural vibration levels in buildings. A 2-D FEM/BEM computer program has been developed and is used to study the simple problem of surface excitatio n of a single wall and its foundation. It gives some understanding for the case of buildings parallel to nearby surface railway tracks. (C) 2000 Acade mic Press.
