A Tc-99m generator has been prepared using an inorganic polymer adsorb
ent newly developed for low specific activity Mo-99. The adsorbent (PZ
C) was synthesized from zirconium chloride and isopropyl alcohol on he
ating. To adsorb Mo-99, PZC was added to the solution of Mo-99 prepare
d from neutron-irradiated natural MoO3. The amount of Mo-99 (Mo) adsor
bed to PZC reached about 200 mg/g-PZC. Technetium-99m was eluted with
a small volume of saline solution in the yield of about 80%. The break
through of Mo-99 was less than 0.5% in good conditions. (C) 1997 Elsev
