Novel mixed-ligand cyanonitrosyl complexes of chromium(I), formed by intera
ction of tetracyanonitrosylchromate(I) anion, [Cr(NO)'(CN)(4)](2-) with 3-m
ethyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (3-MP), 4-methyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (4-MP), 3-meth
yl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (MPHP), 4-methylaminomethanesulphonate sodiu
m mono hydrate-1-phenyl-3-pyrazoline-5-one (DMMASPHP), 2, 3-dimethyl-1-phen
yl-3-pyrazoline-5-one (DMPHP) and 4-amino 2, 3-dimethyl-1-phenyl-3-pyrazoli
ne-5- one (ADMPHP) are described. The resulting mixed-ligand complexes, whi
ch had been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnet
ic and decomposition temperature measurements, electron spin resonance, inf
rared and electronic spectral studies, have the compositions [Cr(NO)(CN)(2)
(H2O)(L)(2))] where L=3-MP, 4-MP, MPHP or DMMAPHP and [Cr(NO)CN)(2)(L-L)(H2
O)] where L = ADMPHP or DMMASPHP. A cis octahedral structures have been pro
posed for these complexes.
