Gustatory sweating and diabetes

Gustatory sweating as a feature of autonomic neuropathy is an unusual pheno menon in diabetes mellitus. We describe a patient with type 1 diabetes mell itus complicated by retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy. This patient p resented with bilateral diffuse facial sweating during eating. She was trea ted with the antimuscarine agent oxybutynine, which provided a striking rel ief from the gustatory sweating. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
