The article presents an analysis of the typical features of shear Alfven wa
ves in tokamak plasmas in a frequency domain ranging from the 'high' freque
ncies (omega congruent to v(A)/2qR(o), where v(A) is the Alfven speed and q
R(o) is the tokamak connection length) of the toroidal gap to the 'low' fre
quencies, comparable with the thermal ion diamagnetic frequency omega*(pi)
and/or the thermal ion transit frequency omega(ti) = v(ti)/qR(o) (where v(t
i) is the ion thermal speed).
