Abstract
The automated Riso TL/OSL reader system is used worldwide for luminesc ence dating, retrospective dosimetry environmental dosimetry and mater ial characterization. In response to requests from many users we have re-designed the reader by incorporating a variety of new hardware and software features. New hardware features include a two-speed sample tu rntable, a new detachable beta irradiator with a Be window vacuum inte rface and the incorporation of an on-board minicomputer.,A completely new software concept was developed that allows the user unlimited cont rol of the reader and has, at the same time, made the new generation R iso TL/OSL readers extremely flexible and user friendly. A description of the new system is given and measurement results are presented to d emonstrate its capabilities. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
