J. Smrz et J. Materna, The dynamics of glycogen deposition within the parenchyma tissue of Melanozetes meridianus (Acari : Oribatida), PEDOBIOLOG, 44(2), 2000, pp. 175-185
Glycogen deposits were studied in the parenchyma of the oribatid Melanozete
s meridianus Sellnick through two years, with respect to food consumption,
alimentary tract characteristics and environmental factors. A remarkable pe
ak in the amount of glycogen granules was observed in autumn and early wint
er, but they were low or absent in spring. The females exhibited a higher d
ensity of glycogen granules.
