Abstract
I present a brief survey of important recent developments in the quantum Ha ll effect. The review covers both fractional and integer regimes, from an e xperimentalist's perspective. The topics include direct measurements of fra ctional charge, composite fermion Fermi surface, spin textures, and edge st ate (chiral Luttinger liquid) dynamics. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
