Abstract
The IV characteristics (IVC) of 1D-arrays of small capacitance Josephson ju nctions with E-C similar to E-J have been measured. The IVC show Coulomb bl ockade of Cooper pair tunneling and exhibit a pronounced hysteresis which a ppears to be dual to the well-known resistively shunted junction behavior o f ordinary Josephson junctions. A dual serially resistive junction model is used to qualitatively explain the measured data. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
