R. Senesi et al., VESUVIO: a novel instrument for performing spectroscopic studies in condensed matter with eV neutrons at the ISIS facility, PHYSICA B, 276, 2000, pp. 200-201
The VESUVIO project aims to provide unique prototype instrumentation at the
ISIS-pulsed neutron source and to establish a routine experimental and the
oretical program in neutron scattering spectroscopy at eV energies. This in
strumentation will be specifically designed for high momentum, (20 Angstrom
(-1) < q < 150 Angstrom(-1)), and energy transfer ((h) over bar w > I eV) i
nelastic neutron scattering studies of microscopic dynamical processes in m
aterials and will represent a unique facility for EU researchers. It will a
llow to derive single-particle kinetic energies and single-particle momentu
m distributions, n(p), providing additional and/or complementary informatio
n to other neutron inelastic spectroscopic techniques. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sc
