Cubic strontium hydroxide bromide displays disorder of the hydroxide ions f
rom a position with weak OH-Br hydrogen bonds to stronger, nearly linear hy
drogen bonds. The former position is preferred at low temperature the latte
r at elevated ones. Neutron diffraction experiments with Sr(OH)Br have been
carried out to describe the structural aspects of this behavior. (C) 2000
