The results of neutron scattering experiments on [CH3](4)NCl (2 M), [C4H9](
4)NCl (1 M) and [C6H5](4)PCl (0.3 M) aqueous solutions are presented. The g
eneralised frequency distributions (GFD) for water molecules hydrating [C4H
9](4)N+ and [C6H5](4)P+ ions were obtained from the neutron scattering spec
tra. These data were compared with the results of ionic hydration previousl
y obtained for LiCl (Novikov et al., Chem. Phys. Lett. 259 (1996) 391) and
CsCl (Novikov et al., Physica B 234-236 (1997) 340) solutions. The comparis
on of GFD of hydration water molecules and GFD of pure water gives informat
ion concerning the ion influence on the rotation-vibration motions of surro
unding water molecules and provides the data about changes in hydrogen-boun
ds network structure. The difference between the effects of ionic and hydro
