The noble metal chalcogenides at the stoichiometric composition M2X (M = Cu
,Ag; X = S,Se,Te) all form superionic phases above room temperature in whic
h the noble metal ion is able to rapidly diffuse in a either a FCC or BCC c
halcogenide lattice. Quasielastic neutron scattering experiments have been
performed on Ag2Te in both the solid and liquid phases to measure the diffu
sion of the Ag+ ions. A preliminary analysis of the results is compared wit
h previous measurements on Ag2Se. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights
