Abstract
Microresonators with a three-dimensional photon confinement. called photoni c dots. have been fabricated by lithographic patterning of planar semicondu ctor microcavities. Photonic molecules have been assembled from two identic al photonic dots by connecting them by a narrow channel. Energies and field distributions of the confined optical modes in these structures have been studied by angle-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy.
