Topological phase preparation in a pair of atomic Bose-Einstein condensates - art. no. 041603

We propose a method of generating skyrmion vortices in a pair of Bose-Einst ein condensates occupying two internal states of the same atom. We show tha t a variety of different periodic arrays of vortices may be prepared with a n appropriate superposition of orthogonal standing electromagnetic waves in ducing a coherent coupling between the two condensates.
