Abstract
We present a strategy to engineer a simple cavity-QED two-bit universal qua ntum gate using mesoscopic distinct quantum superposition states. The dissi pative effect on the decoherence and the amplitude damping of the quantum b its are analyzed and the critical parameters are presented.
