Abstract
The relative He-4 and He-5 ternary fission yields were determined from a ca reful analysis of the energy distribution of alpha spectra from a new measu rement with a Cf-252 source and from published data on Cf-252 and U-235(n,f ). The kinetic energies of the He-5 and He-4 ternary particles ware found t o be approximately 11 and 16 MeV, respectively. He-5 particles contribute 1 0-20 % to the total alpha yield with the remainder originating from He-4 ac companied fission.
