Abstract
Zoonoses have been in the forefront of the human and veterinary epizoo tiology during the past decades. Their importance have increased by th e most important role played during the undisturbed joining the countr ies of the European Community. Harmonized and interdisciplinary regula tion system should be established together with the diagnostic and adm inistrative institutions functioning according to the international no rmatives with an adequate infrastructure. Finally: knowledge and pract ical ability of professionals should be improved (Tables 1 and 2). In case of the control of rabies, besides classical methods, oral immuniz ation of foxes should be continued and gradually extended to the entir e territory of the country, the financial background of which should c ontinuously be ensured (Figs 1 to 5). To stop and diminish the unfavou rable tendencies of human tuberculosis, harmonized diagnostic, adminis trative and eradication procedures should be carried out that conform to tile national prevention program (Table 5 and Fig. 6). It is advisa ble to forbid the privatization of the regions infected with anthrax s pores. The control should be included the preventive immunization of e ndangered animal stock and preventive therapy of affected people. Erad ication programs for poultry Salmonella enteritidis and S.typhimurium should started as soon as possible and gradually extended to the whole territory of Hungary (Fig. 7, Table 4). To increase the efficacy of t he control of zoonoses it has been proposed the harmonized development of public and veterinary health services and establishment of a zoono sis centre on the model of Danish centre (Fig. 8).
