Fifteen therapy and support groups in university counseling centers were st
udied to assess shift in therapeutic factors over time and the relationship
between therapeutic factors and interpersonal problems. The levels of ther
apeutic factors tended to increase over time Futhermore, significant associ
ations were formed between certain interpersonal problems and perceptions o
f the therapeutic factors in group therapy Implications for the conceptuali
zation of clinical dynamics in group therapy and theoretical understanding
of group development are discussed.
