Abstract
The kinetics of oxygen incorporation in oxides is analysed. The impact of b ulk diffusion and surface reaction as well as blocking effects and favourab le transport by grain boundaries are considered in particular with respect to novel developments in the field. It is particularly discussed in how far the overall measurements allow for a mechanistic interpretation. Experimen tal results refer to SrTiO3 as a mixed conductor. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
