Abstract
Amination of 5-bromo-2-thiophenecarboxaldehyde with an acyclic secondary am ine - bis(2-methoxyethyl)amine was effected by using weak base sodium bicar bonate. The resulting 5-N,N-bis(2-methoxyethyl)amino-2-thiophenecarboxaldeh yde was treated with boron tribromide to give 5-N,N-bis(2- -hydroxyethyl)am ino-2-thiophenecarbox-aldehyde.
