Abstract
The reactions of various enediyne derivatives with Fischer carbene complexe s has been examined. In most cases, benzofuran derivatives featuring a func tionalized side chain were produced as a result of the coupling reaction. R eactions performed in chlorobenzene produced mostly this class of products. The major product was usually the alkene derivative, although in the prese nce of chlorine atom sources, chloride derivatives were also observed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
