The research's progress in Alzheimer disease permitted an earlier diagnosis
of this illness. At the same time, we can use an anticholinesterasics trea
tment which improves cognitive impairment and behavioral disorders in patie
nts but often increases their troubles consciousness. Lots of ethical confl
icts can appear. This is due to the person identity, to th equality of life
, to the free choice of the patients, to the confidentiality when we ask us
about the diagnosis announcement or the information given to the patient a
nd his family on the illness or on the treatment. The authors propose a met
hodological approach through legal, deontological, cultural and moral data,
but also epistemological and psychological references to lead the practiti
oner in his ethic of prescription. Recommendations are proposed to lead to
a best communication between caregivers, patient and family.
