Abstract
We investigate the causes behind the low and falling mobility levels i n (Southern) Italy. We argue that a combination of demographic factors , high mobility costs and inefficiencies in the job matching process m ay account for the fall in interregional migration. (C) Elsevier Scien ce B.V.
