Abstract
A series of novel 6-O-substituted erythromycin A derivatives has been synth esized. Good in vitro antibacterial activity has been demonstrated for anal ogues incorporating a variety of structural features. The methodology discl osed is expected to find application in the design of future macrolide anti biotics that target the prevalent bacterial resistance problem. (C) 2000 El sevier Science Ltd.
