Abstract
Establishing a Fifth Dimension activity system in a community institution a nd an associated university course may be enough to gel activity going, but it may not be sufficient to keep it going. We provide two examples of syst ems that existed for some time and then failed, despite evidence of their e ffectiveness. One was in California, the other in Michigan. (C) 2000 Elsevi er Science Ltd.
