Testing neural network models of memory with behavioral experiments

In recent years, a number of computational neural networks have been propos ed aimed at describing memory functions associated with different subregion s of the hippocampus, namely dentate gyrus, CA3 and CA1. Recent evidence su ggests that indeed specific subregions of the hippocampus may subserve diff erent computational functions, such as spatial and temporal pattern separat ion, short-term or working memory, pattern association, and temporal patter n completion.
