A gain error correction (GEC) technique is presented that continuously meas
ures and digitally compensates for analogue gain errors present in each sta
ge of a pipelined analogue-to-digital-converter (ADC). Simulations with and
without the GEC technique indicate that the technique results in a large i
mprovement in the signal-to-noise-and-distortion (SINAD) and spurious-free-
dynamic-range (SFDR) of the converter.
