Abstract
Some information has been published in the literature describing pharmaceut ical company assistance in providing medications for indigent patients. How ever, few published reports have specifically indicated which disease state s are most commonly encountered and which medications are in greatest need in this patient population. This report describes the results of a chart re view covering the first 6 months of operation of an indigent care clinic in a metropolitan area in southern Alabama. The objective of the review was t o gather patient demographics and identify the most common disease states e ncountered and drugs prescribed. This information may be helpful to others who are contemplating developing their own indigent care clinic.
