Abstract
Infestations provide a new way to look at the problem of providing high-dat a-rate wireless access. By allowing delayed message delivery, we can lift t he constraint on ubiquitous coverage inherited from voice cellular systems. The reduction of coverage results in significant capacity gains, showing t he possibility for low-cost broadband wireless data services. We give an ov erview of ongoing research on the Infestation concept.
