Abstract
The advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer (ASTER) instrument is scheduled to be launched on the EOS Terra platform in 1999. T he Global Land Ice Measurements from Space project has planned to acquire A STER images of most of the world's land ice annually during the six-year AS TER mission. This article describes the process of creating the data acquis ition requests needed to cover approximately 170 000 glacier targets.
