Abstract
The iterative delay estimation method is based on its analogy with paramete r estimation of sinusoids in correlated noise. It assumes a-priori knowledg e of echo waveform, their number, and the structure of the covariance matri x of noise. The advantages of this method are improved resolution as compar ed to the conventional matched filter approach and convergence, in a few it erations, to maximum likelihood estimate.
