Abstract
We introduce an exactly solvable mixed spins sigma = 1/2 and arbitrary spin s S (S > 1/2) Ising ferrimagnet. Although the system with only antiferromag netic interaction J(1) between pairs of nearest-neighbor spins sigma and S and crystal-field interaction Delta does not exhibit a compensation point, the system with additional interactions between pairs of nearest-neighbor s pins sigma, does, in agreement with Buendia and Novotny's conjecture. Final ly, we discuss the origin of compensation phenomenon. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sci ence B.V. All rights reserved.
