F. Tanda et al., RHABDOMYOMA OF THE TUNICA VAGINALIS OF THE TESTIS - A HISTOLOGIC, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL, AND ULTRASTRUCTURAL-STUDY, Modern pathology, 10(6), 1997, pp. 608-611
A case of an unusual tumor of skeletal muscle origin is described. The
tumor was located in the tunica vaginalis of the testis in a 19-year-
old man. Histologic examination showed a proliferation of elongated or
round cells, with clearly discernible cross striations, surrounded by
abundant mature connective tissue, consistent with genital rhabdomyom
a. Immunohistochemical and electron microscopic features supported thi
s diagnosis. Rhabdomyoma must be considered in the differential diagno
sis of paratesticular tumors.
